— A Florida man was arrested after police say he robbed the St Thomas Club Penguin Island, stole $3.6 million in property and fled the island.
The St Thomas Police Department said the 38-year-old victim told police he was robbed around 11:30 p.m.
Monday in the parking lot of the island’s resort.
The victim said he was approached by two men in a silver sedan.
The men demanded money, according to the police report.
The victims told police the men took $2,500 and a gun from the victim.
When they realized the victim had nothing, the men fled.
The victim was able to retrieve $1.3 million in cash and property from the island, according with police.
He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with theft.
Police say he was released from jail Thursday and is expected to appear in court in Sanibel, Fla., on Feb. 14.
